Did you know that 93% of 8-12 year olds own their own smart device, 65% are on social media and more than 70% are gaming online? Of these children, 31% play online games with people they don't know and 30% of kids on social media have friends or followers that they don't know in real life.
Our community partner CyberSafeIreland (CSI) is a not-for-profit organisation that focuses on works that empower children, parents and teachers to navigate the online world in a safe and responsible manner. Whilst they recognise the many benefits that technology use brings to our lives, they also believe it is essential to find a healthy balance when using technology in our everyday lives.
Today, CyberSafeIreland are delighted to announce the launch of their first Cyber Break, taking place on Friday the 16 of October.
Cyber Break, brought to you by the permanent tsb Community Fund, is a 24 hour break for your family to swap your screens and devices for a day filled with family fun.
How does Cyber Break work?
Cyber Break runs from 5pm on Friday the 16 of October to 5pm Saturday 17 October.
With a presence in more than 80 locations nationwide, permanent tsb is a local community bank whose purpose is to work hard every day to build trust with our customers. We are a community serving the community and our support of Cyber Break through the permanent tsb Community Fund is a demonstration of that purpose in action.
The permanent tsb Community Fund
The permanent tsb Community Fund was established in 2019 to support communities by providing c.€100,000 in funding to community organisations that are having a positive and meaningful impact on the ground and who are working hard to make a difference.
The Community Fund works in tandem with Staff Charities, and through a combined effort aims to contribute c.€300,000 back into local communities each year. Since its establishment, the Staff Charities Fund has donated in excess of €1 million to Irish Charity, supporting people, families and communities across the country.
