Freeze or Unfreeze Cards

You can now freeze and unfreeze your card in the PTSB App. Another way we’re evolving for a better banking experience for you.

How do I Freeze my Card?

If you think you have misplaced your card, here's how to temporarily freeze it:

  1. Log in to the PTSB App by entering 3 digits of your Personal Access Number (PAN).
  2. Tap the "Cards" icon on the bottom menu bar.
  3. Swipe through the card options to select the card you wish to freeze. Ensure you are freezing the correct card for your account, whether it's your Current Account Visa Debit Card, Joint Account Visa Debit Card, or ICE Visa Credit Card.
  4. Select "Freeze Card" then select "Done".
  5. Your card is now frozen. Once you have put a temporary freeze on your card, it’s important to read and understand what to do next

While your card is frozen, it will affect both your physical and digital card (Apple/Google Pay). It can no longer be used for in-store, online transactions, or ATM transactions. However, existing subscriptions and refunds will still be processed. Your standing orders, monthly bills and direct debits will be charged to your account as usual.

Important information

Debit Cards: If you are putting a freeze on your Joint Account Debit Card, each joint account holder has their own unique card, so freezing one card won’t affect the other.

Credit Cards: As a primary cardholder, if you freeze your Credit Card which has a secondary cardholder, both cards will be frozen.

How do I Unfreeze my Card?

If you are confident that the card has not been used suspiciously, you can unfreeze the card in the PTSB App by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the PTSB App by entering 3 digits of your Personal Access Number (PAN).
  2. Select the "Cards" icon on the bottom menu bar.
  3. Swipe through the card image options to select the card that has been frozen. Ensure you are unfreezing the correct card for your account, whether it's your Current Account Visa Debit Card, Joint Account Visa Debit Card or ICE Visa Credit Card.
  4. Select "Unfreeze Card".
  5. You will then be prompted to enter 3 digits of your 6 digit PAN number for authentication.
  6. Select "Done".
  7. Your Card is now unfrozen and can be used to make transactions.
