You can now freeze and unfreeze your card in the PTSB App. Another way we’re evolving for a better banking experience for you.
If you think you have misplaced your card, here's how to temporarily freeze it:
While your card is frozen, it will affect both your physical and digital card (Apple/Google Pay). It can no longer be used for in-store, online transactions, or ATM transactions. However, existing subscriptions and refunds will still be processed. Your standing orders, monthly bills and direct debits will be charged to your account as usual.
Debit Cards: If you are putting a freeze on your Joint Account Debit Card, each joint account holder has their own unique card, so freezing one card won’t affect the other.
Credit Cards: As a primary cardholder, if you freeze your Credit Card which has a secondary cardholder, both cards will be frozen.
If you are confident that the card has not been used suspiciously, you can unfreeze the card in the PTSB App by following these steps:
Freezing your card is not the same as blocking your card. If you wish to block or cancel your card, follow these steps. Alternatively, give us a call on 1800 687 687 or +353 1 212 4290 (from abroad). Lines are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
